Privacy policy

Version of October 24, 2026. Any change is announced here, with its date.

This page says what Biobâtir collects about you, why, who else handles it, how long it stays, and how you get it corrected or erased. It describes what the site actually does, not a template.

Who is responsible

Biobâtir is a one-person business: I read your request and I answer it.

What I collect, and why

WhenWhatWhat for
You visit a page The page, the date, the name of the site you came from, the name of the advertising campaign if any (and, if you arrive through a Google ad, the click identifier Google adds to the link, kept 24 months at most and carried over to your signup), your country (two letters), your device type (phone, tablet or computer), your browser and your system, in broad categories only, and a random identifier kept in a cookie. Your name, email and IP address are not written in this log. On two ad pages only (“Two friends” and the cost calculator), the path of your cursor, the position of your clicks, how far you scroll and whether you touch the email field are also noted, for 30 days. A random number links the pieces of one visit; it is not kept in your browser and is not linked to your name or email. Never what you type. If you use the “Your opinion” button or the exit survey, your rating or answer and the sentence you write (put nothing personal in it) are kept 12 months, with no link to you. Counting visits, seeing which pages and which ads are useful, seeing where people click and how far they read.
You ask for a free guide, the designer's plans or the newsletter Your email, the date of your consent, the sign-up page, your language, the date you confirm your address, where you are in the email series, and the name of the advertising campaign that brought you. In the designer: the dimensions of the frame you drew. If you click “Remind me in March” or “Not for me” in an email: the date of the reminder you asked for, or the reason you pick and what you write. Sending what you asked for, then the email series. Knowing which ad brought subscribers. Reminding you on the date you asked; understanding why an offer does not fit (reasons are counted without names).
You ask me for a tiny house or to have a frame certified Your email, and what you write in the form: name, phone, town, schedule, availability, message. The plan or frame chosen. Getting back to you about your project.
You buy a guide Stripe collects your card, your email and whatever its checkout asks. I receive from Stripe your email, the amount, the date and the product; I also keep the plan, town and roof you chose, and the name of the advertising campaign. I never see your card number. Making and delivering your guide, sending your contract confirmation, bookkeeping, refunds.
You answer the exit survey (three questions, shown when your mouse leaves the page through the top; on a phone, when you scroll quickly back up after reading half the page, after 45 seconds without touching the screen, or when you press “back”) Your choice for each question, the page you were on, the language and the date, linked together by a random number generated in your browser. No email or name, and your IP address is not kept. Each answer is saved as soon as you give it. Understanding what held you back and what you were looking for, to help you better. Nothing is published. Your scrolling and inactivity are only used to decide when to show the box: they are not recorded. On a phone, the box adds one entry to your browser history, with no data; the first “back” shows it, the next lets you leave. I cannot find your answers again to erase them, since they are anonymous.
You write in the “Your comments help us help you better” box (bottom of every page) Your stars, your text, the page you write from, the language and the date. No email or name is asked for, and your IP address is not kept (it is only used to limit sending to five per hour). Helping you better and improving the site. This text is never published. Because it is anonymous, I cannot find it again to erase it: please do not write personal information in it.
You leave a review, a comment or a survey answer Your rating, your text, your first name if you give it, and your email. Improving the site. A review is published only with your consent and after I have read it; your email is never published.
You upload photos (sawing plan, survey of a piece of timber) The photos, re-encoded without their metadata. Making your survey or sawing plan.
You write to meYour email and what it contains.Answering you.

Your IP address is used in memory only, long enough to limit abusive form submissions. It is not written in my files.

What I do not do

Cookies and what your browser keeps

NameContentDuration
bb_visiteurA random identifier. It is used for statistics and to know which ad brought a subscriber or a buyer.1 year
bb_langueFrench or English.1 year
bb_accesYour email and a signature, set when you sign up for the designer, to find your frame again without signing up again.1 year
bb_forumYour session on the community forum, set when you open the sign-in link emailed to you. Your email is never shown to other members; only your display name is.30 days
bb_consentement_pubYour choice ("yes" or "no") on the measurement cookie banner.13 months
_ga, _ga_* (Google)Set only if you accept on the banner: a random Google Analytics identifier, to count visitors and see which pages are useful. Google also derives, for me, estimated age, gender and interests in grouped figures (never your name). Google LLC, United States: the information leaves Quebec.2 years
Browser storageThe fact that you already gave a review, a random survey identifier, a survey in progress.Until you clear it

You can refuse or delete cookies in your browser: the pages still open. Without bb_acces, the designer does not find your frame.

Who else handles it

The site runs on a server I own, in Quebec. Two providers process part of the information for me; they are companies from outside Quebec, so information may be located outside Quebec.

ProviderWhat it doesWhat it sees
Stripe (United States)Card paymentYour card, your email, the amount
Brevo (France)Sending emails, and measuring opens with an invisible imageYour email, the text of the message and whether you open it

If your project goes to an engineer, I ask for your consent before sending your file.

At checkout, when it tells you so, Stripe keeps your card for 24 hours so you can add other guides in one click. Nothing is charged without your click.

Security

I am the only one with access to the data. The site is served over HTTPS, the dashboard is behind a login, and backup copies are encrypted. If an incident presents a risk of serious injury, I notify you and the Commission d'accès à l'information.
